What is Viagra?
Viagra is an oral impotency medication made by Pfizer and introduced to the pharmaceutical market in 1998. Viagra allows men to achieve stronger erections during sexual stimulation.
How does Viagra work?
Viagra opens blood vessels in the body, which allows for greater blood circulation to the penis during sexual stimulation. As the arteries of the penis harden and expand, blood flow out of the penis is restricted, thus causing an erection. After sexual activity, blood is allowed to flow out from the penis and the erection subsides.
Who Uses Viagra?
Men wanting assistance with getting and keeping an erection. Men with health issues or on medications. i.e. diabetes, high blood pressure, blood pressure lowering medications, diuretics, some cancer treatment drugs, depression, antidepressants, prostate surgery, spinal injury/trauma. The majority of erectile dysfunction cases are treatable.
Will Viagra work immediately?
It takes 60 minutes before Viagra starts to work and remains working for up to 4 hours.
Does VIAGRA automatically cause an erection?
No. With VIAGRA, you must be sexually aroused to get an erection. If you take VIAGRA and are not sexually stimulated, nothing will happen–you won't get an erection just by taking the pill. VIAGRA is not a hormone. It is not an aphrodisiac. It is a prescription medication, that can improve the erectile function of most men with erection problems.
When should Viagra be taken?
Viagra should be taken 30-60 minutes before sexual activity is expected. Viagra should be taken a maximum of once per 24-hour period.
What is the difference between a
generic and name-brand drug?
A Name-Brand drug is marketed under a specific trade name
by a pharmaceutical manufacturer. In most cases, Name-Brand drugs are
still under patent protection, meaning the manufacturer is the sole source
for the product but in many Countries around the world this is not the
case and a generic alternative is readily available. A generic drug is
made with the same active ingredients and in the same dosage form as a
brand name drug. The generic drug is therapeutically equivalent to the
brand name drug but is sold under its chemical or "generic"
name.
Are generic drugs as effective as
brand-name drugs?
A generic drug contains the same active ingredients in the
same dosage form as a brand name drug. The strength and purity of generic
medications are strictly regulated. The FDA requires all generic
manufacturers to demonstrate that a generic drug will have the same
medical effect as its Name-Brand equivalent by measuring the rate and
extent of drug absorption. The generic drug should treat your illness or
condition with the same effectiveness and safety as its brand name
equivalent. Generics have to meet the same rigorous requirements as
Name-Brand drugs.
Are generic drugs as safe as brand-name drugs?
These generics have been used billions
of times by millions of patients, demonstrating again that Name-Brand and
generic name drug have the same effect in the body.
Are generic drugs less expensive
than brand-name drugs?
In most cases, YES. The cost of
researching, developing and marketing a new drug- including the money
spent advertising the product- are factored into the price of the branded
drug. Generic manufacturers spend considerably less on development and
promotion, and therefore can afford to sell their product for less money.
Is the more expensive name-brand
drug of a better quality?
No, the quality is the same. Both have
to meet the same rigorous requirements.
Can women take Viagra?
At this time, Pfizer is conducting testing for Viagra on women in Europe. There is no concrete evidence that Viagra is effective for women. Until such evidence exists from Pfizer or the FDA, it is recommended that women do not take Viagra.
Are samples available as advertised on TV?

VIAGRA comes in different doses (50 mg, and 100 mg). Like many medications, your Doctor may have to adjust your initial VIAGRA dose if it doesn't produce the desired results or you're bothered by side effects. Do not take more VIAGRA than your Doctor prescribes, and do not take VIAGRA more than once a day.
If you are older than 65 years, have a serious liver or kidney problem, or are taking protease inhibitors, such as for the treatment of HIV, your Doctor may start you at the lowest dose of VIAGRA.

nasal stuffiness, diarrhea and dizziness might occur. If these effects
persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly
How do I know if VIAGRA is right for me?
It's important to know that VIAGRA isn't for everyone. If you're a man who uses nitrate drugs, like
GTN, (drugs commonly used for the treatment of chest pains) never take VIAGRA with any nitrate medicine, your blood pressure could suddenly drop to an unsafe or life threatening level. Viagra must never be used by men taking nitrates of any kind, any time. Other medications may interact with VIAGRA and change the way VIAGRA works. It's important to tell your doctor about any medications you take, both prescription and nonprescription. Like many medications, your Doctor may have to adjust your initial VIAGRA dosage if it doesn't produce the desired results or you're bothered by side effects.
Who should not take VIAGRA?
VIAGRA is only for patients with ED. VIAGRA is not for newborns, children, or women. Do not let anyone else take your VIAGRA. VIAGRA must be used only under a Doctor's supervision.
Before you start any treatment of VIAGRA, be sure to ask your Doctor if your heart is healthy enough. If you're a man who uses nitrate drugs, like GTN, never take VIAGRA. The combination of VIAGRA and nitrates can make your blood pressure suddenly drop to unsafe levels. You could get dizzy, faint, or even have a heart attack or stroke. Nitrates are found in many prescription medications that are used to treat angina (chest pain due to heart disease) such as:
Nitroglycerin (sprays, ointments, skin patches or pastes, and tablets that are swallowed or dissolved in the mouth) Isosorbide mononitrate and isosorbide dinitrate (tablets that are swallowed, chewed, or dissolved in the mouth) Nitrates are also found in recreational drugs such as amyl nitrate or nitrite ("poppers"). If you are not sure if any of your medications contain nitrates, or if you do not understand what nitrates are, ask your Doctor or pharmacist.
